Poetry is very much alive.
However, it flows unexamined en masse through the veins of different "scenes." We want to be a network of arteries connecting the isolated parts. THE SCENE eases communication to check the vitals. Our fingertips will touch the collective pulse of poetry.
THE SCENE will apply observation to our collected data. We can diagnose the complexity with more accuracy by widening the pool of knowledge. THE SCENE doesn’t seek homogenization, never signalizing poetry. We want to absorb sensations from varying styles of waves hitting us from sources of THE SCENE.
A poetry scene represents a blood cell, a piece coursing as part of a life-force. Each issue of THE SCENE will take a hyperlocal approach focusing on a single region where a poetry scene breathes, discussed one-by-one. Eventually, we’ll release a special edition where we give an overview, featuring an analysis of scenes as a collective force. Poetry deserves to be treated as a phenomenon, studied like a hurricane.
